Brownies

This is my favorite brownie recipe, the brownies are slightly chewy and the nuts compliment them very well!

Ingredients

  • 225 gr butter
  • 115 gr chocolate (preferably dark)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 330 gr sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 125 gr flour
  • 25 gr cocoa powder
  • 75 gr roasted hazel or pecan nuts (you can honestly whatever nut you like. or just leave them out)
  • a little bit extra butter, to butter the paper

Preparation

Set the oven to 175 °C (347 °F). Put parchment paper in the baking pan, and then grease them. Put the butter and the chocolate in a heat safe container, and melt them. Once theyre thoroughly combined, let it cool for a bit. While its cooling, mix the 2 eggs and the yolk with the sugar, the salt and the vanilla extract untill its airy and has a light color (this should take about 5 minutes with a mixer). Now carefully mix the chocolate mix and the eggy mix untill theyre homogene, and then add the flour and cocoa powder. Then, add the nuts. Now pour everything into the baking pan, and bake it for about 40 minutes. Let it cool fully before you cut it into pieces. If you can resist the temptation that is :]

Troubleshooting

The butter and chocolate aren't mixing!

this happens either because there is water in your butter. You can't really do anything about this, but you can still use it to make brownies. the texture will be a little weird but the taste will still be good The other option is that you burnt the chocolate. in this case the mixture will be bitter and gross. Don't use this mixture for anything, and next time stir the chocolate more often and heat it at a lower temperature
